It is a greatly shredded truck tire. This particular one is outside the Buellton, CA, fabric shop "Creation Station". They have a collection of truck tires converted to flower planters and this one which lays flat on a bench by the front door. I turned it 90 degrees to the left because I think it makes a better image.
