This is a quilt purchased at the 2013 SAQA Auction. One reason I bought it is that I am fond of the Banksias and like to see them in flower arrangements here. Susan lives on the coast of Australia, although I can not deteremine exactly where, I assume she is located in the state of Victoria. .
"Coastal Patterns" Susan Roberts Mathews 2013 12" x 12"
Canvas, water soluble block printing ink, polyester thread, wool fabric. Collagraph printint, lino block printing, fusing, free motion machine stitching.
This detail shows a seed pod with the seed pods already popped out and on their way to making more Banksia plants.
A lovely complete label that includes a contact for the artist. Always a good idea so that the owner can get in touch. Or perhaps someone who wants to buy another quilt.
One unusual thing is that the Plexi hanging rods came with it.
I've faded out the black so that you can see the intricate quilting.
On her blog Susan has detailed the process of making this quilt

This is one of only 2 entries in her blog and there are several pages devoted to the quilt.
