Friday Feet - I never thought I would....

...wear Velcro shoes!
Well, the day has come.  Not only are they Velcro, they are men's shoes from SAS!  Woe is I.

You'll notice that the Velcro continues up the shin of the left leg.  It is part of my new Richie ankle brace.
Cute, eh?  Stylish!

It feels like those "cement shoes" that are mentioned in Mafia movies.
This all started in July when I woke up one morning and couldn't walk on my left foot.  Since then I've had a variety of supports, wraps, stockings... whatever.  But a recent MRI  shows that there isn't enough healing going on - even after six months.  The older we get the longer it takes things to heal, or so they say.  I may have to wear the brace for as much as a year - groan.  But, of course, "we'll have to see".  Since today is the first day of whatever length of time, I have my doubts that I can get around in this contraption, but I will try my best.

Program on Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection 01-19-12

I will be giving a presentation on TCQC this coming Monday evening for the North Cities Quilt Guild.  About thirty quilts from the Collection will be shown and talked about.  No 12x12 quilts, of course, as they are already at VAM in San Diego.  But there are always new quilts that I have not shown before - my problem is keeping it to only about thirty quilts!

North Cities Quilt Guild meets  in the Friendship Hall at the Placentia Presbyterian Church,  849 N. Bradford, Placentia, CA 92870.  The doors open at 6:15 PM for social interaction. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM with the welcome and Guild related announcements. The speaker is scheduled to begin at 7:15 PM.  Their website is http://www.northcitiesquiltguild.org  However, it has not been updated since September.

I am also teaching a workshop "Fiber Postcards/Quiltcards" for the guild from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, Jan 24th, at: Calico House and Cranberry Quiltworks
1243 E. Imperial Hwy • Placentia, CA 92870   (714) 993-3091 (Shop Phone)

The workshop chair is out-of-town and I have no idea how many sign-ups there are, but I'm sure there aren't many as there has been no publicity.  If you are interested just give me a call or send an e-mail.  714-315-9526. DELQLTS@aol.com
I can e-mail you a materials list.  The fee is $30.

I haven’t explored this site that makes word “clouds” http://www.tagxedo.com/
But it looks very interesting.

Quilt by Els Vereycken of Belgium 01-15-12

Here is a quilt I posted early last year, but considering that winter has finally arrive in much of the USA I thought it would be appropriate to show it again.  Although it is a quilt that needs to be seen by stepping back to give the depth of the image. Check for information at the previous post.  Nice comments there also.

"Winter"  Els Vereycken - Belgium  2009  12" x 12" - a monoprint on cotton fabric.

A plain back and hand written label
This will be one of the forty twelve inch square quilts from TCQC that will be on exhibit at Visions Art Museum in San Diego from Feb 3 to April 22.   You can check out the location on their website
There will be three exhibits opening the same evening: SAQA's Art & Science traveling exhibit, the Beatles challenge quilts from Canyon Quilters Guild of San Diego and the forty quilts from TCQC. The public opening reception for these exhibits is Feb 3rd from 5 to 7pm.  AND it will be the First Friday art event at the Liberty Station complex.  So, lots of galleries, museums, restaurants, etc. will be open.  Hopefully, the weather will be great and lots of people will attend.

There are 24 12" square quilts that have not been posted on this blog, so I can post for about six months without purchasing another quilt!  Although, you know that I will!  While the quilts are at Visions Art Museum I will be posting quilts that you can see in-the-fabric there.
