Friday Food 02-08-19

Oh, DEAR!   I haven't been for sushi for over a month!  What is wrong with me?  I will go again this weekend.  Meanwhile here are some past meals that make my mouth water.

Selfies 02-07-19

Why does anyone want to take a selfie?  Here is one of me while I am trying to figure out how to solve my computer problems.  I seem to have purchased the wrong laptop.  This one has no CD player, no slot for my camera card, no plug in for the auxiliary screen!  And I am sure it has modified this picture of me, I can't believe I really look this bad!  Since I wear a hat so much I need to wear one inside when the weather is cool and this is my favorite of those that friend Mabel made for me a few years ago.  It is polar fleece, so it is nice and warm.   And, of course, I have my hair cut like a guy, so there isn't much up top to keep me warm.  The privileges of being 80, eh?

Still procrastinating on doing the edge of  "Winter n the City" quilt, I'm afraid I will mess it up.  Need to look up Terry Grant's tutorial on turning the corners, hers are always perfect.   I have decided to use the scraps from that quilt to make a 12X12 for the SAQA auction.  The due date is the end of this month, so I best hustle my bustle.  (Love that ancient expression.)

Monday browsing and KoKo 02-05-19

Not much browsing going on at my house, I am still hassling with my new laptop.  But I know that Luana Rubin has posted images from the huge Tokyo Quilt Festival and they are worth a browse or two.  Each year the crowds get bigger and the quilts are more fantastic.  Check it out:

Our six days of on again, off again rain seems to be over until the weekend.  It has added huge amounts of snow to the Sierra where most of our piped water comes from and it has allowed the weeds to grow again after the years of drought.  Don't know if that is a good thing or not, but it is very nice to see all the green.

We have had good luck finding non-rainy spaces of time to go for our two daily walks.  We have gotten damp a few times, but not soaked.  Here is the little guy checking out a flow from someones front yard just after the rain stopped.  You can see the grey clouds in the background and yet there is sunshine on the houses at the end of the street.

Quilts from Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection 02-03-19

I am preparing a list of quilts using the category of "People and Critters" for an exhibit of quilts from the Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection at Back Porch Fabrics in Pacific Grove.  The exhibit will open February 24th and last until early in May.  So, if you are taking a class at Empty Spools you will have a chance to visit the shop and see the quilts hanging in the classroom.

They had bird quilts from TCQC last year and everyone enjoy that so much they asked me to do another exhibit.  But I don't have enough people or critters, or anything else, to fill the classroom.  Guess birds are my "thing".

I still don't have access to my photos, or a lot of other things on my laptop, so here is the post I did of the bird quilts that hung last year.
