TCQC quitls at Back Porch in Pacific Grove 05-10-19

Here are pictures I took at Back Porch Fabrics in Pacific Grove, CA, just before we took the quilts down.  All the tables were moved to the middle and all the merchandise put under the tables or in another room.  It is a big job preparing for the quilts, hanging them, and taking them down when the exhibit is over.  Only to clear things out to hang the next exhibit.  Gail Abeloe, shop owner, and her long time employee Jeanne Mills do a great job getting interesting quilts for their customers to enjoy.  It is always a good experience in that shop, my favorite of all time!

Top, Left to right:  Missing Constance - Del Thomas,California    Liberty - Kathleen McCabe, California    World Quilters - Cynthia St Charles    Sweet Charlie, the Chocolate Lab - Kay Laboda, California    Pink Purses in Rome - Joan Sowada, Wyoming
Looking to the Future - Chris Hansen
Center:  Lady with a Mug -  Bodil Gardner, Denmark
Bottom, Left to right:  Four quilts by Olga Norris of England;  New Hat, The Crow's Story, Coffee Futures, Red Hen
How Could You Leave Us? Ruth Powers, Kansas    Nice Catch - Pamela Allen, Canada

Wildflowers along the road 05-07-19

Not great pictures, but these are a few of the blooms along the road up to Mary's in the hills above San Juan Bautista today.

Sweet Clover grows everywhere in the West along the roads and in fallow fields.
It has a lovely fragrance.

Wild mustard - this variety is called rocket.

A member of the mint family, but I don't know which one.

These are the leaves of the milk thistle - but no blooms right now.

But there are several kinds of thistles blooming now.

Here is another kind.

The wild radish flowers are violet and pods are good to eat, they taste like radish!

Curly dock turns deep rusty red in the fall.

Wild sweet fennel grows very tall, this is way over my head, maybe six and a half feet tall.

This is what happens when I don't check that the selfie button is on OFF.

Working on Sue Benner class projects 05-06-19

And I'm going to try posting the KoKo video again at the bottom of the page.

I only need about half of Mary's very long table.  Nice light to work by.

The color is a bit dull in this image.  Do you see some that need moving?
If I use black sashing the blocks with dark borders will disappear.  Same for any of the colors in the borders.

This is the latest on the cut collage project that I missed the cut part.  The weird little grey shapes are leaves and will have black veins to make them more leafy.  More twigs will be added and maybe some other stuff.  Collaging can go on forever.

Here are two different ways of adding video.  Do either of them work?  When I click on the picture the word "RAW" appears.  Does that mean anything to any of you?

Went to Pacific Grove today 05-05-19

It was a lovely day, but Mary wanted to stay home, so I went to Pacific Grove by myself.  Visited Back Porch to take pictures of the exhibit with the room all set up with fabrics, books, quilts, etc., because Gail is going to clear the room on Wednesday afternoon to facilitate the taking down of the quilts on Thursday.   I will take pictures of just the quilts before we start taking them down.

Then I drove to Asilomar to visit the Empty Spools ladies and see what was going on in Katie Pasquini-Masopust's class in Merrill Hall.  Every student had their machine going and was concentrating on their own wonky log cabin project.  Very colorful.

Drove back to Pacific Grove and had lunch at the Red House.  My usual Portobello sandwich with green salad and a latte.  They were out of their special cookies, so no dessert - which I suppose was for the best.

I was going to post some pictures, but tonight I cannot download them at all.  It has worked up until now.  Bummer.

A few days ago KoKo's keeper sent me this video of KoKo trying to kill the squeaker in the new toy she bought him.  I hope it plays for you, I have never posted a video before.
