Saturday in San Diego 08-12-17

Drove down to San Diego this morning, dropping KoKo off with Nancy Ota in San Clemente.  I left home at 6am hoping to not have the heavy traffic I had last month.  There were some stop and go places, but generally the traffic moved along nicely.

I worked at the Visions Art Museum Veranda Sale from 9am to 3pm (with a lunch break).  There was a little of everything, mostly fiber related - fabric of many different kinds, lace,  yarn, trimmings, garments, notions, several sewing machines, and on and on.  When we opened at 10am we had a line of ladies waiting to hit the tables.

Across the street the Art Walk was being held with hundreds of booths and what seemed like thousands of people.   The museum takes advantage of the enormous attendance and holds the Veranda Sale on the same weekend.  The big problem is finding a place to park.  One has to be willing to arrive early (as I did) or walk several blocks to reach one's destination.  I didn't venture into the crowds across the street.

Had a delicious Turkey Cobb sandwich at Con Pane catty-corner across the street from VAM and a great sushi dinner at our favorite Ikiru.  Back to the motel (HIE) and early to bed tonight.  There is a meeting of the Artstream group tomorrow morning and lunch at our favorite Greek place.  San Diego is a BIG foodie place - so many fascinating dining spots.

By the time things slowed down to allow time for pictures it was all pretty well picked over.  When we opened all the tables were filled solid and there were boxes of merchandise under the tables.
This was my view as I sat at the entrance to the museum answering questions and directing shoppers where they needed to go.

The piles grew smaller and smaller.

Across the street the Art Walk was crowded and parking limited.
