Corky is old.... 10-18-13

... but he can still come up with new "tricks". 

 
Here he is in his half in/half out of his bed position.   When I came around with the camera he was sound asleep, with a slightly different snore.
 

Only he has discovered that he can have his buns in his bed and his head resting on the cross bar of the chair.  He is wearing a Halloween scarf along with a fat Halloween bow on his collar.
 

He is also wearing his "tuxedo" diaper because he is semi-incontinent.  He can tell me sometimes that he needs to go out, but most of the time it seems to come on him too fast.  At seventeen the vet is amazed he is still with us, but he has lived like a prince all his years, which tends to prolong life.

Friday Feet 10-11-13

I am sewing like a crazy woman and taking breaks to keep up with my e-mail, although I don't receive much from Thursday evening until Sunday night.  I assume everyone is involved with family doings. 

 
The shoes are cute, unfortunately too flat for my old feet.
But, look at that floor!  This photo was taken in the meeting room at San Clemente Presbyterian Church during the Surfside Quilters Guild last Tuesday.  They must have just had their floors done.  Wonder if the floor guy would come do mine, but mine are vinyl rather than ceramic. 
I'll probably miss a few days blogging, maybe more.  I am already over deadline on two quilts and am beset with guilt, so I must chain myself to my sewing machine and GET THEM FINISHED.  

Wounded Warrior Quilts 10-10-13

Wounded Warrior Quilts at SQG 10-10-13

The usual problem, Blogger says there is something wrong and my pictures disappear.  Surely someone else has had this problem.  What did you do?

 

Surfside Quilters Guild is such an active, fun, happy quilt guild.  It meets in San Clemente and is a morning guild.  Too many of us are hesitant to drive on the freeway after dark.  It is scary out there!   One of the philanthropic projects is making quilts for wounded warriors to cover them while they are being transported from the field to aid stations, hospitals and home to the USA.  They need to be a certain size to fit the gurneys - 48"Wx78"L.  There is a group that meets every month other than guild meeting day to work on the quilts.  The chair puts a pattern in the newsletter asking for blocks and the members come through every month with stacks of quilts.  Most are red/white/blue, but they don't have to be.   

 

This is the stack of quilts turned in at the October meeting.  Amazing, isn't it? 

And here are five of those quilts held up for Show & Tell.  I feel guilty because I have only made two Wounded Warrior quilts and the second is still not finished.  I have started sewing again, but when I will get back to WWarrior is unknown. 

 

 I have no idea why the photos are arranged like this, but I am afraid to change them.
