Looking back eight years to 2008 11-01-16

One of the wonders of the computer is that I can easily look back at pictures taken since 2003.  I've had trouble with the automatic dating on Picasa, so I try to ID everything with a date.  These pictures were taken in 2008 about the same week of October that I drove up to San Juan Bautista this year.

Buckeye tree in autumn (of the genus  Aesculus the same as horse chestnuts) is the first tree to lose its leaves.

One antler deer visiting the bird bath for a drink.  The contraption on the tree above him is something to deter squirrels (I think).

Mary - dinner at Mariposa House.

Mary checking out the roses.  Mariposa House, the restaurant, is long gone.

A solitary poplar tree along the canyon road.  It is also long gone, a victim of the drought.

Flowers in Mary's deck boxes.

Mary's brown hair is long gone as well....All gray now. The contraption on the tree is corn cobs the spin around and make it difficult for the squirrels to eat the corn kernals. Very entertaining for the humans to watch.

It's heartwarming to know you both have very special friends! Good health to both of you.
