Flowers, again 04-16-19

KoKo in front of a Corona de cristo de flor grande   ( Crown of Christ - big flower)
This plant is in a yard on the next street.  The house is for sale.  Hope the new owners keep up the yard, it is full of interesting plants.

Can you see the very spiky stems?

Here is a close up.  How does one handle these?  Welding gloves?

I don't know if there are two plants growing together or if the plant yields different colored flowers.

Both red and cream colors are nice.

I think the pink tint on these are because the blossoms are old and ready to fall.

Thank you for all the pictures of your neighbourhood flora, I especially liked the Watsonia. What a great walk Koko has each day. Best wishes

Tongs? ;-)

After a quick image search, it appears that there are two plants growing together, to produce two flower colors.

This is making me think of the crown of thorns from Notre Dame. I haven't read any follow-up reports, so don't know if their artifacts were rescued.
