Wounded Warrior quilt in progress 09-04-12
I did not sew today, just too much going on. But I did figure out a way to hang the strips full length without getting on a ladder. I just put a sheet on one of my free standing quilt display stands, pinned on the strips and raised it right to the ceiling. Of course, I have to lower it to make any changes and there are certainly changes to be made. When I was pinning I mixed things up and pinned two reds together and two whites together. This is only 15 strips and I need 20. I will make some that are not quite so random to insert here and there. Some of the fabrics are directional and my picky brain can't tolerate them upside down - TOO random.
I may sew most of tomorrow because I would much like to take this finished to the SQG meeting on Tuesday. Then I can sort out some UFOs to work on. I'm enjoying this.

Thanks 09-03-12
Thanks for the suggestions on my Blogger problem. Tonight my usual method works: I choose a picture from Picasa, click on "create" on the top bar, click on "Publish to Blogger" (2nd from bottom) and the page for a new post comes up with the picture(s) on it. Del

The Car Culture loses charm for younger generations:
Lisa Broberg Quintana posts interesting observations and pictures about the quilts she sees at quilt shows. Here is her recent post about posting quilt show images on blogs: http://michigoose-life-quilts.blogspot.com/2012/08/rule-breaker.html
My personal feeling is that anyone hanging a quilt in a show that allows photography accepts that it will be photographed and quite possible posted on blogs. If this is something that the quiltmaker does not approve of they shouldn’t hang their quilts in such quilt shows. Posting images without attribution is definitely wrong and offensive. I don’t believe in the “Anonymous is a Woman” attitude. Del

A Del Thomas Journal quilt from 2006 09-02-12
Is anyone else having trouble with posting Picasa pictures to Blogger? For the last week I am unable to upload pictures using the "Create" tab and "post to Blog". Since my computer crash my pictures are all rearranged and some don't show at all. So, the image I was going to show tonight would not load. Instead here is a Journal quilt I made in 2006 - it is the first image I could successfully upload. .

Hot Weather 09-01-12
The weather seems to be different everywhere this year. August is always "monsoon" season in Southern California, but this year it seems extra humid and extra warm.
These thunderclouds are over the San Bernardino Mountains - at least 50 miles away - and the lightning generated several fires. Fortunately they also brought rain to the mountains and high desert.
No rain at my house - just temps pushing 100F and clear blue skies.
Blessings on the inventors of air conditioning.
