Diane had a pet rooster – a large white leghorn guy named Pedro. She had raised him from an Easter chick and until he was too large kept him in a birdcage in her room. Then he lived loose in the completely fenced yard. Eventually he became too bossy and jumped everyone that came near except for Diane.
On the day that Robert came to see Marie, they sat in the
living room on the sofa listening to music.
Diane took Pedro into the living room without them seeing her and got
down behind where they were sitting.
When Robert slipped his arm around Marie, Diane lifted Pedro up onto the
back of the sofa and let go. They were
off the sofa in a second and Pedro stood there flapping his wings and
crowing. Robert left, Marie chased Diane
around the house with a broom – threatening her with every step. Finally Diane ran out of the house and hid
where she couldn’t be found. She was
grounded for two weeks and Pedro went to her uncle’s farm out in the
country. Robert gave up the chase. Eventually Marie married the chocolate
covered cherry guy. They are still married.
