Another purchase from the SAQA online auction.

Machine pieced, machine quilted. 

I heard Sandra give her excellent program on the "Material Matrix" at a guild meeting.   I admire her process of using "fussy cut" squares for her designs and this pelican fits right in with the bird section of the Collection.  

Notice that the binding is coordinated to the image on the quilt, a very exacting process which she demonstrated on Quilting Arts TV Show #2208.  She has online classes through Podia.

Sara Sharp quilt from TCQC 01-01-23

Hope you all had a Happy New Year in the manner you chose.  Ours was very quiet and not many fireworks, probably because it was raining pretty hard at midnight.  It is amazing how quickly the grass and weeds pop up and turn the brown hillsides and fields a bright green.  Smells good, too!  

Here is another Sara Sharp quilt from the SAQA Auction.  I posted her 2022 quilt "Stilts" on December 11, 2022.  This one is from the SAQA 2021 online auction.   She does the birds very well so I always look for more of her donations  to add to the Collection.

I think the water is especially effective, but Sara's thread painting is very good.  Look at that great eye.

There is even a watery backing fabric and tidy regular facing. 

Nice computer printed label which includes several ways to contact the artist.  

The contacts are important.  Recently there was a post on the SAQA site from an artist in Europe who recovered stolen quilts after years (I think it was seven).  That would not happen if there is no contact written on the label.

Sewing 06-30-21

I was on a roll with the background ready to go and decided to add a tree.  Also decided to keep going to finish a piece for the SAQA auction.  The deadline was today!  So, I added the tree, quilted that, put in some birds, zigzagged the edge, put on a label and two rings for hanging.  Finally shipped it late yesterday via FedEx.  I hope someone likes it and buys it on October at the online auction.  

I don't know how to make pictures the correct color.  The pink here is rather washed out while in actuality it is mostly very bright pink.

There are three birds because there is always at least one bird on each of my quilts. 

In-a-hurry label.  There are two plastic rings on back for hanging.   Somehow I forgot to take a picture of the back, something I usually do.  Sorry.
