Friday Feet 03-03-23

In the 20teens these fabric boots/shoes were sold at quilt shows and were very popular.  I could never quite convince myself they were meant for me.  Haven't seen any for years, but then I haven't been to many quilt shows lately.  I'll have to look at the Quilts, Inc. show in Long Beach this summer.   I don't know how these are connected to the original mola design/technique of the native work done on the San Blas Islands in SAmerica.   Can the fabric be hand stitched reverse applique?

Friday Feet 01-27-23

I don't go many places to take pictures of feet or shoes.  When I was involved with Visions Quilt Museum there were many interesting shoes worn at the exhibit openings and many of the images I will post are from those occasions.  I haven't worn high heels in more than three decades, but I still have two pair in the bottom of my closet, I will have to dig them out and take a picture and maybe donate them somewhere.  I could never wear four inch heels, just too much of a tippy-toe for me, but three inch were okay.   One inch even better!

And I never wore something like this, but they do look elegant. 

I don't think I have seen ads like this for a very long time.  Guess I don't read the right kind of magazines or websites. 

These were part of an exhibit at Bower's Museum in Santa Ana.  The designer did far out clothing and even further out shoes.  Shown on a mannequin.

I couldn't resist taking this picture in a Staples store.  They are Scotch tape dispensers.  Wonder what the sign says, maybe "Glamorize your holiday."?

Friday Feet 01-20-23

For awhile Friday was always "Friday Feet" day and I posted pictures of shoes, boots, feet, etc., but along came Covid and I didn't go out and didn't see anyone's feet but mine and KoKo's!  So I started doing "Friday Food".  I don't go out much now, but saw these amazing shoes at CVS Pharmacy.  Can't imagine they would be comfortable, but we are all different.  She might find my standard shoes unbearable.  So, I will sometimes do Food and sometimes Feet.  

I suppose there is fur on the inside to keep her toesies warm.  It was a cold day.

Friday foot AND Food from January 2012 01-28-22

Looking back ten years - seems like it is longer ago than that.  But on the other hand, has it really been ten years?  There was a lot more going on back then, who could have expected Covid and self isolating?  

One morning I got out of bed and could not walk on my left foot.  i hobbled to the doctor and discovered that my lower leg was fractured.  Nobody knows why!  The doctor says this sometimes happens, I might have stepped off a curb wrong, but it didn't start hurting until I was off my feet during the night and it started to swell.  Who knows!  Anyway, I had to wear this brace, but could take it off to get my pants on and off or take a shower.  Seems like I wore it for about six weeks.  I also started treatment for osteopena.  

I was a "poodle nanny" then and took care of a lovely little guy in Long Beach.  When I was staying there I frequented Whole Foods.  It is on the corner of PCH and 2nd Street and I was just fascinated.  All those different foods and a deli besides.  

This was corn "stew" and delicious.

And I discovered these extravagant crackers. $$$$

So crispy and tasty with cheese and several different seeds on top.  

I may have to visit my local Whole Foods since I have remembered how tasty these are.

Friday Feet 09-03-21

I am tired of Friday Food, so I will go back and repost some Friday Feet.  I really enjoyed doing feet for quite a long time, but since the pandemic started I don't go anywhere to see anyone's feet.  Just mine and KoKo's!   

This is one of my all time favorite feet image!  Have no idea who it is, or why they would take this picture and post it online.  Don't remember where I found it in 2013.

Men's feet aren't usually very interesting, so I don't have a lot of guys in my files.  This is the fellow who fixed the leak in my family room wall in Jan 2012.  A copper pipe with a tiny hole - after about 40 years.  Weird.  But he was nice and did a good job. 

And there are some famous feet in the archive.  This is Elizabeth Barton's right foot in 2006.

Friday Feet, again. 05-14-21

For several years I took pictures of people's feet and posted them on Friday's blog.  It was fun and interesting - to me anyway.  But I don't go anywhere these days so no new feet images.  Here are a couple from the distant past.  Nice juxtaposition, I think.

Observations 08-22-19

Some of you have probably recognized that I observe odd things and photograph them.  It is a compulsion!

A nice one - an Allen's hummingbird posing while I was in line at Starbuck's.  

With a palm tree foot for atmosphere - sort of like an elephant's foot, eh?

Friday Feet 06-21-19

I had this all set up to post last evening and my computer wouldn't let me in.  Had to visit the Geek Squad again today and the laptop is okay now, but how long will it last?  I have a project going so can't let them have it for testing for three or four days.  Hope it will continue to work correctly until I get my project done.

Friday Feet - At the Guo Pei Bower's exhibit 06-07-19

These shoes go with a costume made of bamboo, using traditional basket weave technique.

Shoes that go with a more wearable costume.  Not walkable, I think. 

They are fabulous, jeweled, gilded, embroidered.  But oh-so-uncomfortable, I'm sure. 

The models in the videos of the runway show walked verrry carefully and slowly.  They were all tall and these very high shoes made them tower over the audience. 

Maybe more costume pictures tomorrow.
