Dull Del, working on her Dell!
No post tonight. I have been busy doing computer work on the Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection and the Surfside QGuild newsletter. I might have to have another Blog Vacation this weekend. We'll see. Hope you are all keeping well and COOL. Love, Del

I couldn't order anything else.
Yesterday I had two doctor's appointments (all is well) and, as is my habit, I took myself out to lunch. I had been thinking about the lamb burger for a week or so - I had one at a different restaurant, but found it lacking. So, off to Haven in Orange. I didn't arrive until about 3:30pm, making it both lunch and dinner.
It was just as wonderful as always. Served with herbed pomme frites with house made catsup it tastes even better than it looks. I always remove the top of the bun and cut the remainder with fork and knife. Next time I'm going to ask for more of the sauce on top, which is not quite like the tzatziki I have enjoyed at Greek restaurants, but perfect with the lamb.

I photographed the menu, but I cannot read it without a magnifying glass. I ordered new glasses today and have my fingers crossed that the prescription is correct. It will be nice to see again.
I had half of my burger boxed, along with the frites and ordered dessert. Not something that I see on menus much - Panna Cotta and buttermilk at that. I have always loved this dessert, but haven't made it in about thirty years - I never tried buttermilk. The red smear is the rhubarb puree, the blackish dots the basil gel (never heard of it before) and the irregular black "flakes" are sweet basil, maybe fried. Before I tasted them I thought they were chocolate - what a disappointment. I left them on the plate, but devoured all else, yummy.
And I ate the remaining burger and frites for dinner tonight. .

Jacarandas - again. 07-14-13
The Jacaranda trees were a disappointment this year. I expect they suffered from the lack of rainfall, like most of the trees in SCalifornia. This year trees had to survive on the water they receive from sprinklers or drippy hoses. I missed them. These pictures are from 2006.
Next Sunday I hope to get back to posting a quilt from TCQC, but I'll have to do some photographing first.
