Went out tonight, but not for Halloween 10-31-15

I went out for an In N' Out burger!  I am feeling much better, despite the cough, and there is nothing in the house that I haven't been eating for the last two weeks.  So, KoKo and I drove down, picked up the burger and I brought it home to eat it.  Poor KoKo had none.  I'm not going to be 100% by Monday, the cough will probably linger, but I am going to be back on track.

I've saved this spooky tree just for Halloween.  This is a California Sycamore photographed in 2004 near San Juan Bautista, CA.

Another quilt from 2005 PIQF 10-29-15

These pictures were taken with my former camera which was not as good as my current Canon.  Plus, ten years later I am a better photographer.

This quilt stands out in my memory because of the cat in the detail shot.  My first reaction was a cat swimming, but I don't think the quiltmaker had that intent.  I am intrigued by the many different cat images she has combined with other creatures and the idea that she had her own personal reason for this combination.  Obviously she controlled the color and the theme of cats, but who but she could have combined them in just this way.  A memorable work of art.

On the mend 10-28-15

After nine days I'm sure you are all sick of hearing me talk about how sick I am.  Finally, today, I think I am getting better.  Thanks to codeine cough syrup, Prednisone, Albuterol inhaler, Tylenol, Levofloxacin, and KoKo loving.  The Albuterol plays havoc with my nerves and I have a hard time typing due to the shakes.  But I am coughing less and KoKo and I did a tiny walk down the street today.  We go out in the backyard about six times a day so he doesn't have to have a leash, I think he likes that, but walking down the sidewalk with all the new and interesting smells and sights was a treat for him.   I hope I can cut down on the Albuterol so that I can sew a bit, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.  Hurrah.

I missed PIQF again this year - decided to be sick instead - but I looked back at my pictures from previous Fests and found a few quilts I liked then and remember now.   Not only the playful images in this quilt, but the playful stitching.  This type of stitching is in the style of Kantha work done in Bengal.   Olga Norris, an English quiltmaker does a more refined rendition of this work and there are several of her quilts in TCQC.  Check for her name in the right sidebar.

Still coughing 10-27-15

Day nine - There is some slight improvement, but I still have the cough.  Little KoKo is a loving presence and my Book Group friend Teresa brought me some invalid food today - delicious bread and cream cheese with honey and pecans - and bottled fruit juices which I have chilling.  Hoping tomorrow is a better day.

Can't even take pictures! 10-25-15

Whatever this coughing sickness is, it has really laid me low.  I can't even take  pictures.  I did manage a couple of KoKo who is a great comfort, despite his "helpful efforts".  The oral inhalation medicine is Albuterol Sulfate which gives me the shakes for a couple hours afterward, but it does reduce the coughing.  I don't know, this might be one of those bugs that takes 14 days or two weeks to get over whichever comes first - no matter what one does. I hope tomorrow is a turning point.
