Busy day, but nothing to report. 06-06-15

I am in San Diego tonight staying with a friend.  Tomorrow morning is the meeting of a group I belong to down here and it is difficult to judge what the traffic will be so I can get here in time.  The drive down this afternoon was leisurely and since my friend lives north of the downtown area it didn't take long to get here.  She fixed my favorite dinner - salmon, broccoli, rice and raspberry gelato for dessert.  Fabulous!   Nice to have some extra time to visit.   I'll be home tomorrow in plenty of time to post another of the auction quilts from Fiberlandia.

It's the Berry time of year 06-05-15

You have noticed that I am fond of berries, one of my most favorite foods.  I had hoped when I was in the Pacific Northwest this year I would find some berry stands along the way, but it was too early in the summer.

New machine added to my repetoire 06-01-15

Today I purchased a used Sweet Sixteen from a quilting friend who just wasn't using it anymore.  I'm  hoping that having a dedicated machine for quilting will entice me to do more FMQ and FINISH some UFOs.  I've heard such excitement from quilters who use one of these less invasive machines (I don't have a room I can dedicate to a longarm) that I want some of that thrill.  I hope it works out.  The footprint of 36"x30" will require letting something go in my sewing room, maybe I don't need a dining room table (used for piling stuff) AND a cutting table.  This acquisition will be a major change and require a major amount of time to integrate the Sweet Sixteen into my room and my life.  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Geri Patterson-Kutras quilt from Fiberlandia auction 05-31-15

I love this little quilt with the random houses and the lettering in the background.

"Roof Lines" Geri Patterson-Kutras - Morgan Hill, CA  8"W x 6"L
Cotton fabrics, fusing, machine applique/quilting.
Commercial fabrics with small patterns and color variations to give depth and interest to the houses and background were Geri's fabrics of choice.
Geri's statement: "Flying high above the tiny village, roof lines create a series of new silhouettes and forms.  I wonder if the residents of the village below know what an unexpected patchwork of form and color lay in the shingled gables of their dwellings.  Gazing out a window of the silver bird carrying me home, the landscape becomes a lasting souvenir my holiday."
This quilt is based on a photo Geri took in France while attending Patchwork Europe 2014.
