KoKo visiting me 08-21-15

Remember this little guy from last May?  He stayed with me for a few days.

This time I will have him for nine days while his mother goes on vacation.  He is the most loving dog I have every been around.   Corky was sweet and smart and stole my heart, but he wasn't dog that sits on laps.  KoKo  LOVES to sit on a lap and give an occasional smooch when he is in the mood.  We are having a lovely time!

Wordless Wednesday 08-19-15

Clouds, but no rain.

We do have clouds in SCalfornia, they just don't seem as spectacular as those in Montana or the wide open prairie in the center of the country.

This is looking out over the blue Pacific with the clouds and fog on the horizon.

This is in Anaheim, about a mile from where I live and shows the storm clouds on the San Gabriel Mountains.

Clouds in Montana.

We would like to have some clouds that drop a nice gentle rain that would soak into the very dry soil.  My lawn is almost dead and I have to wait until 8pm to water anything in my yard - mostly the roses and the crepe myrtle tree in the parkway.

Ruth McDowell Gilia quilt 08-16-15

This quilt became part of the Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection in 2011, but I haven't featured it on my blog previously.  I don't know why not.  But I have been going through the list and finding any number of quilts that I haven't blogged about.

Gilia is a tiny flower that Ruth has greatly enlarged to make this quilt.  I love the myriad of light colored fabrics she has used in the background, representing, perhaps, all of the low undergrowth and debris on the forest floor.  It is a restful quilt which I hang when the more strident quilts overwhelm me.
