Plumeria 09-12-20

We have not been able to walk much for a week because I developed sciatica.  It is VERY painful and until I had a diagnosis I was unable to do much of anything.  Tylenol in large doses, of course.  And I tried not moving my hip or leg, for a couple days, that didn't accomplish anything.  Then I did some of the exercises from the PTherapy I have had in the past.  That seemed to help some and I managed to walk KoKo up to the corner and back so he could do his business.  Finally got in to see the PA at my doctor's office and she knew immediately what the problem is.  So, more Tylenol and exercises specifically for sciatica.  Seems to be working.  These pictures were taken a couple weeks ago at a house down the block.

When I lived in Huntington Beach in the 60s I grew plumeria in pots and rotated the flowering plants into the entryway inside the house.  I had no idea that people here in north Orange County grew plumeria trees in their yards.  They come in a number of colors, mine were all white, but I understand that the very dark pink plants are the most fragrant.  I especially like the color on this plant. And the fragrance is very strong and nice.  I may ask if I can take a cutting.  The new plants start very easily.  At least, mine always did.

Remembering 09-11-20

"New Growth"  Del Thomas  2001  14" X 14"
In the book "America From the Heart: Quilters Remember September 11, 2001"

Artist's statement:  "From the terrifying events of September 11, 2001, comes a new belief in our country and the growth of mutual support and understanding.  We must set aside hate and work together for our freedom."

And we need to do that today in our divided society.

Wordless Wednesday 09-09-20

Several inquiries about this.  Here is my explanation...

This is an old sheet blanket that was laying over the edge of the table.  I pushed it aside to do something on the table and it made this interesting pattern.  The top picture is right way up, but I had to turn the image all different ways to see how it would look in different orientations.  If I tried I could never arrange it again.    Del  09-10-20

KoKo time again 09-08-20

Is this a lazy dog?  I know that dogs sleep an inordinate amount of the day, but lately it seems he sleeps even more than usual.  Partially because I am having trouble with my left hip and am in my recliner quite a lot of the time.  Hope to see a doctor sometime this week, meanwhile it is Tylenol, heating pad, and PTherapy exercises on my bed.

Today was the ZOOM meeting of the Surfside Quilters Guild and he was asleep right next to my laptop. With Froggy, of course.

On my lap with full frontal exposure.  This was begging for a tummy rub, but then he just went to sleep.

On my lap while I am reading and his head is supported by the chair arm. When he wakes up he paws at the book until I put it down and pay attention to him.  He runs the place!
