Cutting finished 02-06-16

My scrap squares and rectangles are all cut and bagged for the Bonnie Hunter workshop on Wednesday.  Some are singles and some are up to 21 cut from yardage in my fabric library.  My shoulders and my back ache - I haven't cut pieces for a traditional quilt for years.  Time for a Tylenol/Arthritis fix.

I was looking for a picture in my back files and came across these two favorite  animal shots.
How strange to see a wild moose and a domestic cat nose to nose!

And isn't this one dear - his/her mommy found a perfect camo place to hide her baby.

Preparing for Bonnie Hunter class 02-05-16

I've heard so much about Bonnie Hunter and her scrap quilts that I signed up for her class next Wednesday sponsored by Surfside QGuild.  She'll be the speaker on Tuesday morning.  Hope she gets some down time on Tuesday afternoon, evening because I understand she will have 40 students!

Before Wednesday rolls around I need to have cut and bagged 864 2-1/2" squares and 432 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles.  I still have a hundred squares and a hundred rectangles to cut.  And it feels that all I  have done for the last three days is cut fabric.  I am trying to use my scraps, some of which were already cut into 2-1/2" squares, but have had to cut into some yardage to get the balance of light and dark.  I thought I had more fabric with black backgrounds, but I may have to stop at a fabric shop tomorrow so there will be a variety of different black prints in the quilt.  Such a trial!

If I multiply the requirements by 40 students I see there will be about 34,500 cut squares and 17,300 cut rectangles in the class room.   That is a lot of cutting and a lot of fabric.  And I hope it will be a lot of fun.

Thursday Threads 02-04-16

Here is another of my quilts from the past.  I really need to organize them and set up a spread sheet, but I always seem to spend the time doing other things!   TCQC takes up some of my computer time and I think that is more important.

Here is a quilt I purchased at Quilt National '07   I don't often include it in the programs I do because it must be hung and space is sometimes a problem.
