It was a gorgeous day. 10-28-23

The temps have been in the 70s for  a few days with night temps in mid 50s.  I know it will get hot again, it  always does this time of  year.  We could still  have 100 in November, plus wind.  Of course, we do still have blooms and one long blooming plant is the Plumeria.  I think  it must have been an "in" plant when these  houses were landscaped so many decades ago,  because there are a great many plumeria trees around.

Most are white, like this one, and some are, again like this one, actual trees.  It grows on the south facing side of a one story stucco house. There are actually two along with a nice sized Jacaranda tree.  Such a nice fragrance when we walk by.

They bloom in clusters of up to 10 - 20 flowers.  I have  heard that the red variety has a stronger fragrance, but there are few red ones around and I  can't tell  the difference.

This is the back of one flower from the tree shown above!   The tiny yellow dot is the stem end sticking up.  So amazing that the back is so much different than the front.
I do enjoy seeing the changes in the plants  along our way, even if my memory loses the name at least  half the time.  Maybe the next time I  walk by I will remember!

Here is that great little KoKo cuddled up with his BFF.

I am still having trouble with my spaces.  Guess I need a trip to the Geek Squad.

Friday Food 10-27-23

The other day when Carol and I had lunch at Fitness Grill in Yorba Linda we both ordered Chicken Chipotle Kabob: Chicken breast, chipotle ajoli marinade, grilled tomatoes and chilies, basamati rice.  When we were seated we noticed a man seated nearby had something that looked delicious and asked the waiter who gave it thumbs up.  Oh,my goodness it was fantastic. So much so that I can hardly wait to go back and have it again. I had already tucked  in before I took the picture. The two tomato halves are the light red  on either side of the plate and the bright red at the top isone of  two mild chillies,  I had already  removed the VERY hot green chili so it  wouldn't contaminate anything else.

Of course I couldn't eat all of this for lunch, so I have enjoyed it for dinner, along with two of Carol's chicken pieces and some broccoli from my frig.   YUM.

I  was recently  at a meeting at Rosie's in San Diego and we all  went next door for lunch at the Mexican place. I think their food is good, but they are shortofstaffsoittakesawhiletogetserved.

A tired day 10-26-23

Still suffering from extreme tiredness and the only appointment with a cardiologist is December  11!    This is with a  large cardiology group nearby. My primary doesn't  feel it is urgent, but I am somewhat concerned.  I don't really think there is a problem, but I would like to have more energy.    Maybe it is just my age. We are still walking twice a day and I have a nap almost every day.  Keep on keeping on.

Surfside Quilters Guild is all  geared  up for our November 14th meeting which is November Fest, our  primary fund raiser.   There is a wonderful selection of quilts for the live auction, interesting things for the silent auction,  anamazing boutique,  and an abundance of Raffle Baskets.  I prepared a thread basket again this year with donations from friends and guild members.   During the year I collect items from "going out of quilting" people and miscellaneous sales. This year there are +/- 200 spools, some partially used, but mostly unopened spools. Lots of  poly and rayon and metallic.

This complex, colorful quilt made Cathie Opila is one of the spectacular offerings in   the live auction.

Miscellaneous 10-24-23

So nice to  have comments on this blog - you encourage me to try harder!    Thanks Gayle  in NZ and Carol in Placentia.   Tonight just a few  miscellaneous photos.  I have actually been doing  some  sewing!  Have  a  couple deadlines coming up and sewing recorder covers for a local grade school. We still walk twice a day,  morning and  evening,  and have  extended a bit going a block up and back  on the next road over..  We meet other dog walkers and  some  times a neighbor  working  outside or coming/going.  Always nice to talk to someone face to face.

It took me days  to  figure  out what  these two pictures  are doing in my photo file.  I could not remember taking  a picture of anything violet.

Finally, I knew: they are the inside of the pocket of my black dog-walking pants.  A photographic version of  the  cell phone "butt call".

Julian's favorite ice cream, Cookie Monster. Blue ice cream with chocolate chip cookie pieces.  He never wants to try anything else.

Am I not the cutest doggy that ever was?  October 2019

Dave, the mailman thinks so!  And gives me tummy rubs.

12X12 quilts from Thomas Contempoary Quilt Collection 10-24-23

I just can't seem to keep this blog going.  How did I do it every day for so many years?  I think my life is now so boring and limited I can't think of anything to say most days. I take the neighbor boys  to school only on Tuesdays now.  Immanuel goes to high school and  must  be there by  7am.  Julian is in fourth grade and I drop him  off at 7:15am.  And sometimes, like today, I have a nap when I get home.  Old age is creeping up!  Have a  lunch date tomorrow,  we are going to  our favorite spot, Fitness Grill  in Yorba Linda.  Then I hope to sew in the afternoon.

I usually post TCQC quilts on Sunday, but I hadn't taken the pictures before the sun went down.  So, I'm showing these three today.  They are very special quilts because my SDiego friend Andrea Bacal made them and the images are actually my hats. She needed to meet a Challenge for Canyon Quilters with the theme "From Above". She called and asked if I would send  her some pictures of my hats, taken "from above".  I took  a  half a dozen and these are those she chose from that selection. The cream hat with the shiny green bow she submitted to the Challenge.   I casually mentioned about 50 thousand times that I would like to have the other two.  In 2020 she finished them and they look fantastic hung together on my cream walls.  They are fused with the raw edges stitched and she has done wonderful quilting to indicate the texture of each hat.  I think her use of colored pencils to show the bow and shadows is inspired.  They all have the same background and the  same fabric on the back.

A thousand thanks to Andrea for such special quilts, done perfectly.  I owe her a quilt and she wants one I started in Sue Benner's Tucson class.  I'll find  it in my mess somewhere, add the binding and label, and it will be hers.  Of course, I have to find it first!!!
