Not much going on 06-27-14

A picture of clouds from my Picasa files

I just spent half an hour finding and editing some great shots of "Lilies of the Nile" (Agapanthus) and then couldn't get  Picasa to let me access them.  So I just picked a cloud photo from 2006.  I'm always taking pictures of clouds, I think it is because those we have here are rather mundane.  Traveling cross country is such a thrill, seeing all the different formations.  I'll be off on another road trip in a few weeks and am so looking forward to it.   As long as there are no tornadoes.

Wednesday Watermelon Salad 06-25-14

This is the best summer salad.  It is a recipe shared by Meg in Australia back in July 2009.
There aren't any exact measurements, but this is what I use for just one dinner size serving:
3 - 4 radishes sliced
half a small can of sliced black olives
1/2 naval orange cut into small pieces
2 cups of watermelon squares - about an inch.
a couple hands full of mixed greens OR baby spinach OR what have you.
Toss with a dressing made with olive oil and fresh lemon juice.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
The problem with being sure that God is on your side is that you can't change your mind, because God sure isn't going to change His. [or Hers!]  - Roger Ebert, film-critic (1942-2013)

Yes, I was born a little too late for some of these – 1938 -  but maybe it explains my propensity for hats:  http://blogs.ancestry.com/cm/2014/05/12/12-reasons-you-really-belong-in-the-1940s/

Block for Wounded Warrior project 06-23-14

I'm working on the Surfside QGuild newsletter this week, it needs to be posted Friday.   I have been working at it off and on for the last few weeks.  My eyes bother me if I commute all day, so I have to do it in segments of two hours or less.

Bargello Block

This is the June block members can make if they wish and it will be combined with similar blocks to make the quilts.  The block size is 18" wide by 24" long, so it doesn't take many blocks to make a quilt.
The pattern came to me with a typo in the title; it said Bordello rather than Bargello!  I thought that was a pretty funny typo.  Glad I caught it before I sent the newsletter to the proofreaders.
