Friday Feet 11-24-17

Yep, ladies still wear pointy toes.  Guess she isn't old enough to revert to tennies.

Thanksgiving Day 2017

Hope  you all have had a lovely Thanksgiving.  I went out with friends and had a steak!  Something I rarely eat anymore, it was delicious.

Some years ago I made placemats for friends that used this hand print turkey idea.  I traced everyone's hand and added their names to the finished pieces.  I hope they are still enjoying the placemats.  Even if it not for Thanksgiving Day.  All the little hands would be big hands now.

Re-visit a quilt by Judith Roderick from 2011 07-19-17

This was a purchase from the SAQA 2011 online auction.  Since then I have purchased another at the 2013 SAQA online auction.  Another bird - Judith and I are equal bird lovers.  This was posted previously on 02-03-13.

"Night Owl"  Judith Roderick - Placitas, NM  2011 12"x12"
Whole cloth quilt done with soy wax and Tinfix dye.  Machine quilted.

Judith said, "This is my hand-painted silk image of a Petroglyph Owl, that was done with soy wax and Tinfix dye.  Machine-quilted and embellished with various buttons."

I do love birds and there are a number of bird quilts in the Collection.

He has such a great look on his face - sort of "who? me?"

Clawed grasping feet that are appropriate for an owl.

Judith has used the buttons on the owl very effectively, I'm not so sure about the green buttons, but they do add some "bling" to the piece.

The back is solid black so the quilting shows very well.

A very rudimentary label.  I looked her up in the SAQA directory so I do have her contact.
