In the past I have used the Monday post to list sites of interest - I least I think they are interesting!  I haven't browsed much the last six months, too much news gets in the way.  But there is a lot of content due to the limitations of actual quilt museum visits, quilt shows, etc.   Here are just a few online features that you might find of interest.

Ruth de Vos, an Australian quiltmaker talks about and shows her method, which is similar to that of Ruth B. McDowell.  This video is over an hour long, but I found it fascinating to see how this Ruth works,  especially with her hand crank sewing machine!   One of her large quilts is in TCQC, check her name in the right sidebar.

Many pages of quils and information about what may be the largest collection of quilts in the world.  Traditional, Art, Modern, International, Old, and New - they have everything. I subscribe to the Quilt of the Month and delight in the great variety of quilts they have featured over the years.  Check out "Quilt of the Month" files.

Monday Browsing 09-30-19

Another September gone.  Guess I need to stop celebrating my birthday until next September 1st.  It'll be here in a flash, I'm sure.   I am still not doing much browsing online, just have other things going on and have gotten out of the habit.  These days I am sewing on a few items for the Surfside Quilters Guild November Fest and I need to finish them up to turn in next Tuesday  - oh, no!  Guess I need to sew faster. 

Someone sent this on Facebook, suggesting it might be a good exercise for the elderly.  I'm not sure I could do it, but it would surely help my coordination.

Monday Browsing 10-29-18

Years ago I was an active bird watcher, but allergies curtailed my outdoor time, so now I am just a casual bird watcher - a "peeper" as the Brits say.   Over the years I have kept track of the birds I see for the first time and in the past have always limited that to those that I can ID without the help of another person.   Bird ID books make that possible.  However, a bird watch with experienced birders is the way to learn to ID on one's own.   There is a California Bird page on Facebook that is really amazing where photographers post fabulous images and comments from others on the list help point out features that make birds individual.   There are some very serious birdwatchers on the list and some unbelievable photographers.  I think you can access it with

Monday Browsing 10-08-18

This site has four stories, but the one that fascinated me was the stilt dancers.  One summer when I was a child the rage in the neighborhood was stilts.  We made our own and were only about two feet off the ground, but a fall was a fall and I have never been Miss Grace.  So, there were scrapes and bruises, even just walking on the lawn.   But the whole process was so enabling and made me so proud of myself...so confident that I could do such a thing.  I haven't thought of it in years, but doing so has me smiling and feeling good!

Monday Browsing 10-01-18

Monday Browsing 08-06-18

How can it be Monday again, so soon!   I have not been online  browsing this week because I have been sorting and suffering from the heat.  I vowed I wouldn't bitch about the heat, but it really, really gets to me.  Edison has been cycling my A/C and I may have to resign from that program since the heat has actually been making me sick.  KoKo did not have a walk tonight because it was almost 11pm when the temp dropped below 80F.  80 is my cutoff, I can't do the walks when it is hotter than that.  

More trivia for you tonight.  These all have to do with money.

Monday Browsing 07-30-18

Where did July go?  Summers used to be so much longer, maybe because I was younger.  My little grandmother Ella as she aged said that it seemed that she went to bed on New Year's Day and the next morning was Christmas again.  I know I have told you this before, but I am amazed at how much I feel the same way.  

Not much browsing lately.  It is just too hot for sitting and browsing, I guess.  Here is some trivia I have collected.

Using the word photocopying is incorrect because photography didn't come around until later.   I've always wondered if he used something like carbon paper. 

This would be a real treasure since royalty does not sign autographs. 

Mr. Matalik was a candidate of the United Nations Party.

Monday Browsing 07-23-18

I haven't done much browsing lately since I have started working on a quilt - the first one in a year and a half.  Oh, I've done some little things but this one is 24" wide x 36" long.  Doesn't compare to the large quilts I have made in my lifetime, but I am having to learn some things all over again.  Sewing skills are like a lot of other skills, use it or lose it! 

Of course, when it is so hot it is hard to keep the perspiration from dripping on everything.  I do have A/C, but subscribe to the Edison program that lets them cycle A/C units when the  power use is getting too high.  They only turn it off (they say) for about 20 minutes, but they can do it several times a day.  I save at least a hundred dollars on my electric bill and help avoid brown or black outs.  All my other power stays on, just the A/C is cycled. 

Here are a few things I have come across online.
