This fellow was nicely dressed with dress shirt and tie and slacks, but maybe he had been walking on his lunch break. Or maybe this is now appropriate office footwear.

Monday Browsing 01-28-13
http://www.pawnation.com/2013/01/22/cat-meets-snow/ Cat discovers snow.
Here is a good place to browse.
This URL is for tricks to make life easier – or so they say. http://twistedsifter.com/2013/01/50-life-hacks-to-simplify-your-world/
This is a hard one.
It is about “home funerals” and I found it very informative. Probably because I recognize that I don’t
have a lot of years left and need to think about what will happen to my body
when I am dead. Read it or skip it, as
you wish. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/25/home-funerals-death-mortician_n_2534934.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmaing9%7Cdl3%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D262125
Luana Rubin posts many pictures on her Flicker pages, she is currently
at the 2013 Tokyo Quilt Show (attended by 250,000 visitors!). She will post pictures in the next month or
so. Meanwhile, check out: 2010 http://www.flickr.com/photos/luanarubin/sets/72157623367170172/Sunday, January 27, 2013
Terry Grant quilt on blog
It has been just about a year since I posted this quilt by Terry Grant. http://www.delquilts.blogspot.com/2012/01/terry-grant-quilt-in-tcqc-01-22-12.html
I am showing it again because Terry has posted on her blog about her technique to outline parts of her design in black lines. It works "a treat" (as my friend Constance used to say) and you might like to try it. One of the quilts in the "Brainstorms" exhibit at Visions Art Museum in San Diego is "Sentinels" by Denise Oyama Miller - Fremont, CA, uses a similar technique to great effect.
By-the-way, the "Brainstorms" exhibit closes on February 17 - don't miss it!
"Stellar Jay" Terry Grant - Beaverton, CA 2011 12" x 12"
Cotton fabrics. Fabric glue. Machine applique and quilting.

The body of the Jay is outlined in the black - actually fabric glue is applied just around the edges and placed on a black backing.
Then the black background is cut leaving a black edge around the bird. And the wing and tail pieces are also outlined in black using this technique. Read Terry's explanation on her blog, it is much better and more thorough than mine. She also has a video tutorial.
A plain fabric backing and the binding is piped.
No contact info, but I imagine she figured I knew how to find her! There are now eight Terry Grant pieces in Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection.
More Corky's Shirt 01-26-13
Another step in Corky's new shirt. I think the red will help keep him warm. The strip that goes across the tail of the back is the collar from the man's shirt, when I cut it to the correct length I will zig-zag the ends as suggested by a reader. .
