Rearranging

Now that I have the Sweet Sixteen I need to rearrange my space to accommodate it.   It will take a major effort, so you might not hear from me for the weekend.  The weather is supposed to be in the 70's which is good because some things will have to go out on the patio so there is room to move.  Guess I'll have to get rid of some stuff.  Woe is I.   Del

Wordless Wednesday 06-10-15

Great program at Surfside QGuild today 06-09-15

Our speaker today was a member of our guild, Jean Impey, who presented a colorful and thought provoking program.  She showed about thirty quilts, some very large, some large, some small. She is fond of spider web and has created a number of variations.  She does both pieced and appliqued works and has several patterns.  She also does commissions.
Her theme was "Finding Your Passion" and going with it with gusto.  I was inspired!  And I recommend her as a speaker and teacher.
Jean was one of the featured artists at Empty Spools Seminars this year and will be teaching there in 2017.   http://SewJean.shutterfly.com/

Dresden Plate variation.

Applique with Marston/Moran pieced baskets.

Another little quilt from the SAQA Fiberlandia auction 06-08-15

"Mimosa Blueprint"  Linda McLaughlin - Weiser, ID 8"W x 6"L
Blueprint made by artists, stitched with embroidery floss.

This is so delicate.   The embroidery stitches - stem stitch for the veins and seed stitch with single thread for the quilting - go through the batting, but then the quilt is backed with a solid fabric.

No label on this one - I will have to add one.

Linda tells me she has submitted a 12x12 quilt to the SAQA online auction that is printed from the same mimosa leaf, but on different colors.
