New quilt in TCQC 10-09-16

"Essence of India"  Caroline Higgs  2016  12"x12"

This is what Caroline says about her quilt:
"This is based on a photograph I took of a wall-painting I saw at the craft Museum in Delhi. The base is a bit of old silk sari which I pole dyed in Indigo, and the edges are the original colour. The central motif is cut in one piece in cotton and then fused and machined, raw-edge appliqued. The background has been stitched with fine thread along the `string` lines; the edges are bound."

I love this little quilt from the SAQA online auction.  The quilting is amazing as it goes along every branch, twig, leaf, and bird.  She has used a textured white cotton on the back which effectively buries the quilting.  I'm in awe of her precision.
I don't find a website for her.

Caroline contacted me - her website is https://carolinehiggs.me/
