Swimsuits for therapy 02-24-11

I've looked at the suits on Land's End.com - how depressing!   And how exposed!

This one seems to do a lot for this gal - maybe it will do a lot for me.  Ya' think?
Well, maybe not.

I imagine this is more appropriate.  But will it adequately cover my bulges and bumps?  Or when I lift my arms (if that is necessary) will my boobs leap out?

I think something like this would be a better choice - armholes where the spot and handle are and a coupla' extra holes for my legs to come out.   Very stylish, eh?

I don't even own a swimsuit - LOL. What's the point, with all this snow that will be here forever?
Today it is raining and I have to drive a few hundred miles on route 95, which is the worst with all those big trucks. Ack.

Enjoy your weather and those lovely flowers in your Wed. picture.

Hi Del,
I'm sure if you go out and look you'll find one. I think we go through a phase where we wouldn't be caught dead in one and then we get to an age where we couldn't care less if it means we get to do something enjoyable.
My friend's mother, who moved from MN to Orange, CA and bought a house at 85 (!) came to visit me last year and bought a suit because I have a pool and hot tub. We are all so proud of her for not sitting off in the corner watching everyone else have fun and she looked just fine. Don't worry about it and just get one and get on with your therapy.
And...you can get a cute cover-up, if you want, to wear to the edge of the pool and then you're mostly under water once you get in. Just do it! :)

LOL! Due to lots of breast cancer related surgery and a very odd body shape, I cannot find a bathing suit that I feel comfortable in. The sizing is ridiculous. If it fits the hip area, it is too big on top. Breast prostheses for swimming float, making it very uncomfortable to be seen in a pool. I have given up on swimming!!

Del, I can't believe that Lands End has tarted up so many of their swim suits...I still stand by the Tankinis...mine is a pretty multi printed scoop top with shorts on the bottom (blessedly black bottoms). I can't stand shoving my body in and out of wet, clinging lycra and the 2 pieces make life much easier--no contorting to get in and out.

Gerrie, my swim prosthesis and these tanks don't float. I don't have a double mastectomy so my remaining breast keeps things in place.

Take a look at this one...I don't know what size you are, but this is the style which keeps most everything covered and not looking like sausage breaking out of its casing.

I've been water-walking, which keeps my hair relatively dry (you use a foam gadget around your upper body and then just stroll around the water). It turns out that the pool I use is filled with women my age, and all of us have well-used bodies. I was worried before I went, but I fit in just fine and sometimes I even feel a bit skinnier than at home. It's sometimes relative, and often companionable:-) The hardest part is just getting yourself to the pool with your new suit. Once there, you'll probably discover you are in great good company:-)
