The weather seems to be different everywhere this year. August is always "monsoon" season in Southern California, but this year it seems extra humid and extra warm.
These thunderclouds are over the San Bernardino Mountains - at least 50 miles away - and the lightning generated several fires. Fortunately they also brought rain to the mountains and high desert.
No rain at my house - just temps pushing 100F and clear blue skies.
Blessings on the inventors of air conditioning.

That doesn't make sense. It seems that the coastal areas would be cooler than inland. The Central San Joaquin Valley was in the upper 80s yesterday. I didn't even think to turn on the AC until late afternoon.
Placentia is not right on the coast - about 24 miles to Long Beach and 10 to Disneyland. The marine fog doesn't come this far inland, so we heat up like the inland valleys. I find my thermometer records up to ten degrees hotter than what the TV shows for Anaheim/Disneyland.
I am 2 1/2 hours inland from the coast. The weather here the last couple days has surprised me. We are supposed to be up to 101 again by Tuesday, though.
