Thomas Contemporary Quilt Collection 01-23-22

As you know, there is no theme in TCQC, I just add what attracts my attention. So, there is a wide variety of techniques, styles, and quilt makers.  This triptych was made by Lisa Yoder of San Diego.  Lisa does beading and delicate detailing in her work.  And one of the things that delights me is seeing a piece that I like from a distance and discovering discreet details when viewed up close.  The top picture is the entire triptych, followed by the three pieces and a close up view of the detail in the left panel.

"Cowville"  Lisa Yoder - San Diego  2009  31"W X 15.75"L
Commercial cotton fabric, lace, illusion net, silk ribbon, beads, embroidery floss, perle cotton, metallic. thread.
Hand piecing, hand applique, hand beading, hand quilting.

The sun is a spiral of tiny clear yellow beads.

Tiny potted plants and some large black and white print blossoms give good depth.

The title of the quilt "Cowville" comes from the inclusion of four cows.  Can you find them?

Yup!!! Had not noticed them before, but found them -- one napping in the field and the others just hanging around the garden! Lisa must love to think whether or not folks will find her hidden surprises. Thanks so much for sharing.
